LUNG: The meridian of humility

The lung meridian may be the most important meridian as it is part of the flow of chi into the body. It is the breath. Breath is the life force that keeps the body in balance and energizes it. Therefore, when it comes to emotions associated with the lung, we need to take it very seriously.

An aspect of looking into emotions associated with meridians and your overall health is looking into what kind of symptoms you may have. Lung symptoms, like asthma, mucus, shortness of breath, holding the breath during times of stress, mouth breathing, etc. start to appear when the negative emotions have been chronic. Sometimes these symptoms go away with meditation, probiotics, breathing practices, etc. and sometimes they do not. When you have tried many things and still seem to have lung associated issues, it may be time to look into the lung meridian emotions.

NEGATIVE EMOTIONS: LUNG

  • Disdain

  • Scorn

  • Contempt

  • Haughtiness

  • False Pride

  • Intolerance

  • Prejudice

The general theme of the negative emotions related with the lung is looking down on people, things or yourself. Believing you are smarter, better, high class, etc. than others. One of the main things we have found here is disdain oriented toward yourself versus another person or thing.

POSITIVE EMOTIONS: LUNG

  • Tolerance

John Diamond, MD used a homing thought to help break the cycle of negative thoughts/feelings instead of a mantra. I like this idea of creating a feeling/thought/mantra to help break the negative hold these thoughts can have.

Homing Thoughts for the Lung:

I am humble. I am tolerant. I am modest.

The goal here is to use the Homing Thought to recharge the lung meridian and break the negative loop impacting your health and thoughts. Say it, feel it and be it throughout the day. Some people will have to start by doing this every few minutes in the beginning. Over time and through repetitions you will begin to feel humble, tolerant and modest.
